Tu’ Bshvat is an opportunity to recognize the importance of trees in our lives. Through structural engineering and shelter, protection from the elements of nature, or the provision of food and other resources; we need trees. It actuals clearly stated in the Torah that we should not even burn and destroy trees during times of war, unless they are non-fruit bearing trees. Further more, we are instructed to not consume any fruit or products of the tree for the first three years, to allow the tree to grow most effectively. Ask your child how they recognize the importance of trees and what they can do to help ensure trees develop healthy.
