SEPTEMBER, 13 & 14
EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION
We had a great first class in Experiential Education!
We started class with classroom expectations and an introduction to the class. Students then broke into pairs to do our first activity. During each round, students would talk about a prompt. One example is "what is your favorite Jewish holiday," and share it with their partner. After each round, students found a new partner and had the opportunity to talk about the next topic.
Next, students received a prompt written on the board that tied into Judaism. Examples included grapes, candles, and prayer. The students would then write the first thing they think of on the board through a Jewish lens and review it as a group.

Each student practiced reading lines of Hebrew aloud, and most of the students were excited about how much Hebrew they remembered from last year!

Kitah Zayin - Rabbi Kornsgold
Students began class talking about prayer; what it means to them, where and how they have experienced prayer. Then, students had the opportunity to go around the round and read various quotes about prayer. Students selected the quote which resonated with them the most and explained to the class the reason they chose that quote. Finally, students were asked to decorate a Jewish star with words or drawings which connected them to Judaism. The Jewish stars will be put together and displayed in the school, showing the connections among the students in the class.
