Ki Anu Amekha – Who are We in Relation to God? Who is God in Relation to Us?
Yom Kippur is meant to focus our attention like a laser on our relationship with God. And it’s not a simple topic. Like all relationships we’ve invested any time in, it’s complicated, and definitely not one-dimensional. Do we even have the language to adequately describe this relationship? Take a deep dive into this iconic Piyyut, or medieval liturgical poem, to find and unpack a dozen richly colorful and diverse metaphors for our oldest continuous relationship, and in the process, perhaps find yourself in one of them. Note: please bring your copy of Mahzor Lev Shalem to this session.
