TI Book Club Meeting

Monday, March 20, 2023 27 Adar 5783

7:30 PM - 9:00 PMZoom

For our next book club meeting, we will discuss The Thread Collectors by Shaunna Edwards and Allyson Richman. In this exciting novel, the authors combine their familial histories to create a fictional Civil War narrative revolving around two women: an ingenious young Black woman named Stella, who embroiders intricate maps on repurposed cloth to help enslaved men flee and join the Union Army, and a Jewish woman in New York City who stitches a quilt for her husband, who is stationed in Louisiana with the Union Army.

As these two women risk everything for love and freedom during the brutal Civil War, their paths
converge in New Orleans, where an unexpected encounter leads them to discover that even the
most delicate threads have the capacity to save us.

Copies of The Thread Collectors are available in public and Jewish libraries and for purchase online for under $30.

Contact Linda Levy (704-366-6362, levyollie@aol. com) for additional information.

**Participants in the March 20 book club meeting discussion of The Thread Collectors, by Shaunna Edwards and Allyson Richman, will have a special experience, since the two authors will appear in person at the Jewish Book Festival on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
